This article is intended as a helpful guide and shows the service schedules for my 1996 UK ST205, this information may not be accurate. If you are in any doubt, or not qualified, do not use this information, consult a qualified mechanic. Servicing of your vehicle is critical , failure to carry out this in accordance with the relevant manufacturers procedures and/or instructions can lead to severe damage or injury. Schedules

'Check' means check and adjust, top up or report.

Service Schedule ‘A’ - Multiples of 9000 miles

Check drive belts for wear and deflection. Replace timing belt at 63,000 miles
Change engine oil – check for leakage
Replace engine oil filter
Check heater and cooling system, oil cooler and all fuel pipes, tank cap, hoses and connections for leakage
Check engine coolant level. Replace at 36,000 mile intervals (or when contaminated)
Check exhaust system and mountings for security and leakage
Check spark plugs - replace at 18,000 miles (platinum tipped at 63,000 miles)
Check battery electrolyte levels and terminals for security
Clean air filter element
Check fuel vapour control valve
Check engine idle speed, CO emission and choke operation (as applicable)
Check brake pedal free play and parking brake travel
Check and report on brake pads, discs, linings and drums, clean out dust
Check level and condition of brake fluid - replace every 24 months or earlier if contaminated
Check clutch fluid level
Check brake system pipes, hoses and connections for leakage
Check steering wheel free play and linkage for wear and security including four wheel alignment
Check ball joints and dust covers
Check differential and power steering oil levels for leakage and top up
Check transmission oil for leakage (replace every 36,000 miles)
Check transfer box oil (replace every 36,000 miles)
Check front and rear suspension for correct operation and security
Tighten bolts on chassis and body
Check all electrical systems for correct operation
Check all lights for damage, correct operation and alignment
Check windscreen wipers/washers for correct operation/direction and top up washer fluid
Check tyre condition, pressures and torque setting of road wheel nuts
Check bodywork for any abrasions or damage which left unattended may lead to corrosion
Lubricate door hinges, key and lock mechanism including fuel filler door
Replace battery in alarm remote control handset
Check operation of seatbelts, condition of webbing and security of anchorage points
Road test and report

 

Service Schedule 'B' - Multiples of 27000 miles

Check valve clearances every 54,000 miles
Check drive belts for wear and deflection. Replace timing belt at 63,000 miles
Change engine oil – check for leakag
Replace engine oil filter
Check heater and cooling system, oil cooler and all fuel pipes, tank cap, hoses and connections for leakage
Check engine coolant level. Replace at 36,000 mile intervals (or when contaminated)
Check exhaust system and mountings for security and leakage
Check spark plugs - replace at 18,000 miles (platinum tipped at 63,000 miles)
Check battery electrolyte levels and terminals for security
Replace fuel filter
Replace air filter element
Check fuel vapour control valve

Check exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR) and charcoal canister
Check level and condition of brake fluid - replace every 24 months or earlier if contaminated
Check clutch fluid level

Check brake system pipes, hoses and connections for leakage
Check steering wheel free play and linkage for wear and security including four wheel alignment

Check PAS fluid level - check for leakage
Check front and suspension for correct operation and security
