How Do I Start A New Page

Assuming you are already a registered contributor....

Decide where you want the article

First decide where your new page best resides :- is it a maintenance article, an information article or a modification article

Once you know which section you want to add it to open that section from the main page. For e.g. let's say you have just modified your car with a flux capacitor and want to share this mod with everyone else, open the modification link

Create A new entry for your article

Under each section (maintenance, information, modification) there are a number of different sub-sections.

Eg in Modification there are sub sections for Performance, Handling, Cosmetic, Track etc etc

Decide where your modification best belongs. For e.g. your new flux capacitor is definitely a performance mod so you'd want to put it in the performance sub section!

Alongside the sub-section of choice you will see an edit link (Right hand side in line with the sub-section title)[Don't see this, you're either not logged in or not registered to contribute] Click this edit link You'll be presented with a basic text editor containing text that looks like this :-

=Performance Modifications=

Feeling the need for speed. Here's some information on how to satisfy your desires

[[Fitting A hyperdrive]]

[[Fitting Neutron Blasters]]

The lines in [[ ]] are the interesting ones. These specify a link to a content page. It is one of these you need to add.

To do this add a new entry:-

[[Fitting a flux capacitor]]> Then click on save at the bottom of the page

When you return to the main modification page you'll now see a red link called "Fitting a flux capacitor"

The red colour means that the page does not exist yet! Click the link and it will take you to a new page where you can edit your article.

Site Organisation

Nearly all of the content on this site is fitted into categories

A Category is a notional grouping of material which covers a particular type of subject

We have created 3 main types of category for this information :-

This hopefully splits out information into topics that interest most users!

Using Categories

To make site navigation easier most of the material has been categorised depending on it's content This allows users to directly search for material based on it's categorisation

Existing categories and their content is listed below

User_profiles

Personal info page about the user. Category has a small front page which just lists all of the user profiles with a header note to say what it is.

Tag: [[Category:User_profiles]]

User_projects

Ongoing project page for each user. Category has a simple front page with a header detailing what project pages are and a list of available ones

Tag :- [[Category:User_projects]]

Maintenence

Subset of guides relating to maintenance of car only. Category has a simple front page with a list of all maintenance guides and a header saying it's unsrted

Tag : [[Maintenance]]

Modification

Subset of guides relating to modification of car Category has a simple front page with a list of all modification guides and a header saying it's unsrted Tag : [[:Modification]]

Guides

All guides Simple front page with a note to say that this is all articles Tag : [[Guides]]

Applying Tags

If you follow the creating a page guide correctly a single tag should be all that's required to fit it into the correct section

Main Site Pages

These pages are directly available from the left hand navigation pane of the web page

Main Page

This is the main face of the wiki site. It contains links to all available content. Most users will not need to change this as it simply provides convenient links into lower subsetcions. Your content should be added to those pages

Community

~Documentation on how to use the wiki, how to contribute, codes of conduct etc. Again not a page users should be editing BUT if you feel there is information missing that could be useful you are free to add

Maintaining the GT4

Hand edited sorted list of maintenance articles

This is the root of all articles pertaining to mending or maintaining the car. If you want to add a new maintenance description this is the place to start from

Modifying the GT4

Hand edited sorted list of modification guides

This is the root of all articles pertaining to mending or modifying/uprating the car. If you want to add a new modification this is the place to start from

Buying guide

Hints and tips when buying a car

If there's something that you wish you'd known when buying yours please feel free to add it here

Administrative Information

Users must request a login via the forum

Only staff have the rights to create a new account

All registered users may edit pages :- guidelines are on the community page

At this time photo uploading is enabled for Admin only NOT users - Create articles using hyperlinks. The admins will upload pictures for you if the content is deemed suitable and we have not run out of website space
